Hi guys,

How are you doing? I am in NYC visiting a friend. I have a rental car, I am thinking of visiting Yale Law School tomorrow for a day trip to see it from the outside and take some pictures.

Does it worth it? what I mean here, how long will it really take? googlemaps shows it takes 1:30 . What about traffic? will I encounter any?

Other must see places in New Haven should I go to? I might start it early morning after considering your answers, of course.

Best

The Yale campus is very beautiful and covers many blocks and streets. Its very picturesque and the same applies to much of downtown. I certainly enjoy photographing those two places.

Do the Yale walking tour, you'll see more.

Yale Art Gallery is also worth it.

Get some New Haven pizza. BAR is closest to the campus.

Visit Louis Lunch. It's home to the Worlds First Served Hamburger and still makes them today. It's a very old shack located near downtown.

A friend of mine visited New Haven and took a tour of Yale and other spots. She said it was the one city she visited where the buildings were more animated than the people.

You will have time--just leave after 10. The Art Gallery is definitely worth it (and it's free.) Depending on what you like to eat, you will have a lot of choices for lunch--great Thai, Indian, pizza, etc.

It's a lovely day out to go up there.

If you have time while you are on campus, I would add seeing the nave of the Sterling Memorial Library to your list.

Thanks all. Your answers made me even consider it more. I would go Next Saturday as my friend would come. Is it a dead day down there?

Unless you can leave NYC on Saturday by 6 am, both highways are pretty congested. I think tours start at 1 pm. I would allow myself two hours to drive from NYC to NH on Saturday mornings.

Better alternatives are to either take the train, or go weekdays, after 10 am. Trains are actually pretty inexpensive.

Train no question. And if you want to stop and stretch your legs, you could always get off at Stamford or Greenwich (Greenwich ave would have the more convenient access to some of the bars and restaurants), just a 1 minute walk down.

Next 2 weeks should still have students on campus.
