15-20 min. Once you get past Greenwich, sure it's a nut house on the Merritt.

And even it were farther the reason people do such commutes is its the only housing they can afford relative to their salaries.

Why does Route 11 suddenly end, well short of I-95? Why are there interchanges that are essentially backed up during all waking hours (I-91/Route 15)? Why does the state not use the innovative designs that other urban states have successfully implemented, such as modernizing interchanges and building express-toll lanes? Yeah, I know these are 'under study'...but at the rate this state does things, we'll all be 6 feet under before anything actually happens.
This is also a good point, especially in CT as a lot of things you mentioned were just about to be constructed in the 1970s, but NIMBYism crawled in. The biggest one was I-195. It was to go from Norwalk to Danbury along the route of rt. 7, this is why route 7 is a limited access highway around Norwalk and Danbury (they had started to build it). In fact (don't know what Interstate number it would've had) there was even a plan to make rt. 7 an Interstate going from Norwalk to Burlington, VT (which is partially why rt. 7 is limited access slightly north of Danbury, and why there are limited access parts of rt. 7 in VT and MA in ways that make no sense on a map, they were parts that were already constructed before it all stopped).

Then there is I-291 in Hartford which was supposed to be a "Beltway" around the metro. And I'm sure there were others.

Back when I worked at my dad's old job in New Canaan I took the back roads all the way from exit 35 off the merritt to where I live in Trumbull which is just past exit 50. Really didn't take that much longer than if I sit on the Merritt. Really, everyone in FFC that lives on the Merritt/95 corridor should know the back roads to Norwalk/New Canaan/Stamford like the back of their hand, a complete lifesaver (and even more so when the highway is shut down between exits!)

CT want to add extra lanes on I-95 how it is possible for that when I-95 is on the shoreline with limited land ? Is double elevated highway possible for local exits all way to Rhode Island and express exits at major points.

The state will not double deck I-95. It would be too expensive and an eyesore. There is some room along sections of the highway but the state will need to acquire additional right of way to add extra lanes. It won't be cheap but it can be done. Jay

The state should add the extra lane in each direction from New Haven to New London. I think that would be pretty feasible.

Route 25 limited access freeway ends in Trumbull a few miles after it branches from RT 8. It continues as a 2 lane road with lights and businesses through Monroe and Newtown, and is an absolute mess during rush hour. It reminds me of how RT 7 was in 2005 between Danbury and Norwalk.

Weekends on I-95 in FC have now officially joined weekday rush hour status.
Had to take Post Rd and backroads through Darien, Rowayton, Sono, East Nor,Westport to get back from Stamford - on a F%^&$*ing saturday afternoon.
