moruph~ those apartments you are thinking of is a high rise building. Its right next to the railroad tracks/station and the police station are within walking distance. Very noisy, very high traffic, and dumpy. there are only a couple of deli's close by and really no restaurants until you cross over broad st on east main. The apartments themselves seem are probably nice. I have never been in those. I lived on east main st some 15 years ago. I was broken into twice and my Hubbys motorcycle was stolen out of our driveway. I don't know if its changed but the rule always was : 1 mile walking distance from the tracks was no good. Just my opinion, but I think a young professional would be better off in the westlake area. There are apartments, townhouses, condos, and those single family homes some were speaking of. look there. you will be 20 min from hartford, new haven, easy access to the highway, there are tons of shops in cromwell rt 372 and berlin/newington. If the rents seem higher in that westlake area which is only 6-8 min from the area you were looking at, you may be able to find a roommate. I know the carriage crossing part offers 2 master suites and a common living/dining/kitchen with laundry in the kitchen. You could split the rent. Look on craigslist too. GL

Middletown may be a great match for you. It is in central CT and a quick commute to Hartford, West Hartford, the shoreline, etc. You have easy access to Routes 9 and 91. They have some great schools and some that need improvement. Some great sites to research the schools are schoolmatters.com and greatschools.net. I have lived in towns that border Middletown and I wouldn't consider the crime in Middletown to be too bad when comparing it to other parts of CT. Wesleyan University is located in Middletown and you have one section that is primarily used as housing for college students. Its considered to be a fairly prestigious school and I believe they do a lot to keep the students safe. As with any town some sections are much better than others.

Do you have children and would you send them to school there?

Furthermore, in context I was replying to this statement below not about "kids in school" so please do not try and spin what I said into something it's not. "Hartford is not nice at all"I've answered your question, now it's your turn. Would you say "Hartford is not nice at all"? I surely wouldn't put the entire city in that box. You moved to Georgia and you don't like CT. That is obvious in your posts and is your right as an American...might I suggest you begin to enjoy your new home in Georgia and leave us "miserable" CT people to carry on. |

You are out of touch... Prove me wrong and list out all the development you have knowledge of that is going on or has taken place in the last two years. (No google cheating!) Go for it: 1. ______ 2. ______ 3. ______ 4. ______ 5. ______ I guess all that housing over at Trinity aimed at "low income folks" and the push for increased homeownership in the city via a pile of new programs is not enough. "low income housing" is one of the generators that got Hartford in trouble in the first place which is why the push for homeownership is so great. Duh... |
