(So sorry, folks. I think I neglected to mention that I'd be boarding at South Station, Boston. There's a show at the Bruce Museum that closes on Sunday, January 3, 2016. Maybe I should aim for a weekday in Dece,ber so as not to cut it so close.)

Thanks, JayCT. If I went into NYC and then in and out again to/from Greenwich, I'd probably have to spend the night in NYC. Which is fine, but I'm trying to save funds on this little trip.

If OP is watching cost, it is also cheaper. Amtrak charges more for the same distance than Metro North.
