This has been a multi decade issue, and causes huge problems as the state's median age is already far above national average, which equals the costlier to have for the state years.

I just went back and looked at past threads on this topic. The last time we had one was over a year ago and it was closed because it went off topic. This topic has been talked about in other threads but that is not the same so I am letting this one stay open. Please stay on topic. JayCT, Moderator

At the end of the day, CT may never be able to retain all the youth that are raised in this state, and thats not necessarily a bad thing. CT isnt the biggest state or has the biggest infrastructure, i dont think anyone wants added traffic at this point.

One thing that questions me is that if the most people leaving your state are going to NY or MA, why move out of CT? I get that people want to be closer to their jobs but why if other reasons?

Traffic is going to get worse over the years regardless if CT's population increases or not. Remember CT is in the heart of the northeastern market. The states around us are growing such as Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. People have no choice but to drive through CT if they want to go to NYC or Boston. It's safe to say that nearly 30% of all the cars that drive on Interstate 95 daily are from out of state. There isn't anything to back this up but from what I see...a good portion are drivers from out of state.

I am looking into NY and MA taxes may be higher. However, more job's, more activities to do, bettee infrastructure, and cheaper education

Millennial here. Definitely leaving and for many reasons--especially those mentioned in article. Career wise I should head to Boston, but MA doesn't do much for me either. Married with a house. Both professionals. Plan to have kids next year. 26 and 27 years old. Not sure about other Millennials, but my rough breakdown is:

Where I would never live:
tri-state
RI
Louisiana
Mississippi
Oklahoma

Where I hope to live:
South (ideally TN, FL or NC)
west (ideally CO, UT, WY or Oregon)
Southwest (ideally TX)

Where you could pay me exorbitantly to live with a gun to my head:
MA
MD
CA
midwest

Consider if the right opportunity presented itself:
anywhere not listed above
