Question Moving from LA to Stamford Connecticut wit family

Hi ..
My husband has got a new project in IT wit Pitney Bowes and we are moving from LA to Stamford Conn. We are looking for 1bhk apartment within the range of 1000-1200.

I am looking for a place where lots of Indian families reside and which is easier to commute to the work place at Stamford. I have a infant wit me so a location where doctors and hospitals are closeby would be best.

Are there any Indian / Bangladeshi stores in Stamford ? Which place would be best to consider for living? Are there people from diverse races?

Lots of questions ....but do not know abt d place and hence curiosity and anxiety abt moving into a new place altogether. Here in LA we hav lots of Indian friends and Indian stores are not uncommon. All d facilites are at walking distance. Since I have a small baby I am looking for people wit family around.

Please advise.

Thank you in Advance.

Stamford would be your best bet for an apartment in your price range. I am sure there are many Indians in the Stamford area since it is quite a diverse community. I am not sure if there are any stores that sell Indian foods but would be very surprised if there weren't. I am sure someone else here can answer your question. Jay

I am unsure of where an Indian "neighborhood" in Stamford would be--I don't think there is a specific one. But, Stamford is somewhat diverse in the east/west sides, so I don't think you'll have trouble finding what you are looking for. There are 2 terrific Indian restaurants here though--downtown (can't remember the name--I think Pandoor??), and one on High Ridge Road...delicious. Stamford's hospital is also located on the west side. Stamford really isn't large enough to support an area of "this ethnicity" or "that ethnicity"--at least within the scope of multiple ethnicities. It is diverse, however, and my partner and I have fit in wonderfully. My neighbors are African American, Jamaican, French, Mexican, Caucasian American, and Italian. We love this city for diversity! Welcome.

Hello ,
There is one Indian grocery store in stamford on Prospect street . Also there are lots of indians staying in that area , there are a couple of Apartment buildings near the Indian Shop. Stamford Hospital and downtown is not very far from that place.

Default maybe too late...?

you probably already have enough info but just in case...Stamford has MANY Indians living here...there is a large concentration in several high-rise buildings in the center of town (on Bedford Street, Strawberry Hill Avenue, Prospect Street, Grove Street and Morgan Street). There is one building on Strawbery Hill Avenue which is a converted hotel and units (with kitchens) can be rented for shorter periods than traditional apartments which usually have one year minimums. I'd estimate that at least 70% of the residents in that building are from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh

4 Indian Retsaurants in Stamford and many in surrounding towns...great Ind/Pak/Ban grocery on Prospect Street as mentioned in a previous post (centrally located to the streets I listed above)

Good luck!
