Groupon has ranked Hartford as one of the ten friendliest cities to do business in the country. This is based on the organizations customer satisfaction survey. Connecticut is always getting a bad rap for being unfriendly but if that were true, why would Hartford be on this list. What do you think? Jay

Odd mix of cities, but good for Hartford for making it.

Meh. There are many superlatives I'd prefer before friendly.

If only they were true.

Connecticut gets a bad reputation for business because we're hostile and many people feel that the government is dishonest which I agree with. Connecticut tends to forget we're in competition with 49 other states. The governor said he's not going to increase taxes and he increased it not only once but twice. As a Hartford resident, I'm pretty surprised it's ranked up there. I mean these lists can be pretty biased. One list from a website could rank it much lower than this one.

Groupon?? That's an interesting source. While I've grown tired of the negativity on this forum, I definitely don't agree with this.

I'm confused, is groupon ranking the friendliness as it relates to taxes, employee talent pool and expansion or are did they base this ranking on if the cute cashier smiled and told me to have a good day?

Because I go to a lot of places in Hartford and half the time the cashier doesn't get off her phone to tell me the cost of the transaction.

Side note, when that happens I just stand there and stare at them until they tell me how much I owe them. Makes them highly uncomfortable but makes me giggle inside.

I think that when people cash in their groupons, they can leave feedback on their experience at that particular business. I guess that the feedback from Hartford businesses are good enough to merit inclusion in the top 10. Maybe it should be called Top 10 for Customer Service, but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Friendliest, as too often the customer service image is somebody speaking heavily accented English on the line from India.
