Hi everyone!

I am going into NYC early tomorrow and was going to take the train into Grand Central. I normally drive to New Haven and then take the train in, but I'd like to cut down the amount of time I spend on the train to no more than an hour (less if possible would be great!)

What would be the best and most direct route to take? Even if I drive into NY somewhere and hop on the train there, as driving to NYC usually requires me to take 84 to 684...

Was looking at Stamford train station but don't know if that is the most direct route to take...

thank you!

I would say leave Thomaston starting around 5:30 AM to beat rush hour traffic. In Fairfield County I-95 can be congested for etc 3 mile travel usually take 2 mins but rush hour morning traffic is 14 mins for 3 mins. When you leave at 5:30 AM you should arrive in Stamford by 6:30 AM. Route 8 to Bridgeport then I-95 to Stamford. You going have to pay for parking at Stamford train station I think it around $14 dollars. Trains leave Stamford every 5-10 mins during the morning rush to Grand Central.

I wouldn't driving to NYC during the morning.

You guys realize there is no rush hour tomorrow right, it's Saturday.

Go to Darien station with free parking, hop on an express train, you'll just have a couple of stops, Stamford and 125th St.

Even a little earlier would be preferable, so I can get a cab and get to the Pennsylvania Hotel by 8am/8:15.

I would leave around 5:00 AM you should get to Stamford in 45 mins early Saturday morning no traffic to get catch 6:02 AM train from Stamford and arrive at Grand Central 7:05 it the local train though stops at Greenwich, Port Chester, New Rochelle etc.

When u arrive at Grand Central take the 7 Train 34th Street – Hudson Yards bond train and get off at Times Square – 42nd Street

1,2,3 trains go near the hotel around 34th street area look out for the signs at the stations.

There are not a lot of trains running on Saturdays at that time. I would park at Fairfield Metro Center which I believe is free on weekends. There is a 6:11 Am train that gets you to Grand Central at 7:50. That does not get you to your destination though by 8:00 AM. The next earliest train though is the 5:11 which gets you there at 6:50 AM. A bit early but you will get to your destination by 8:00. Jay

Stratford is also free parking on weekends as well, but if the OP was going down Route 8 from Thomaston, FFD would be on the way, while Stratford is a bit of a backtrack.
