Wow -- I really enjoyed looking at all of these fabulous photos. Thanks for posting them. I'm still pretty new to CT (it's been less than 4 years) and these make me want to do a lot of exploring.

My wifes family used to own a cottage on a spit of land connecting Bridgeport & Stratford CT. The Bridgeport end was acessable by a turntable bridge & at one time there was a road from Stratford. Many years ago the road from Stratford was let go & the only vehicular acess was from Bridgeport.
The cottages are in Stratford so a few years ago when the bridge, in Bridgeport, crapped out things on Pleasure Beach went downhill quickly. Bridgeport isn't planing on rebuilding the bridge I dont think.
We walked out a few years ago on the old acess road from Lordship in Stratford & there were still a couple die hards but now its all condemned.
Its pretty sad. I dont have any childhood memories from here like Trish does but its easy to see families haveing cook outs, playing volley ball & horseshoes, swimming & sailing.
Its pretty spooky. Its about a 2 mile walk in & pretty desolate. Each & every cottage has been ransacked & most trashed pretty bad.

This is her old garage & cottage. Some of their stuff was still in the garage after 20 years.

The street,

A dock out behind the garages,

Connor checking the operation of an abandoned piece of excercise equipment.

The Bridgeport end was once an ammusement park. PT Barnum did alot of things here & was associated with it somehow. Thats a carosel in the backround,

A closer view of carosel remnants,

This thing my wife called the "Polka Dot Playhouse". I reckon they used to have plays here.

A view of the interior. I'm not superstitious & wasn't scared but I wasn't smoking, (almost a year now!) so you decide what that foggy crap is.

These are on the beach itself,

A sign of the presence of a sick individual.

Hope you enjoyed the few pics. I had a real nice day out there.

It certainly is sad. I could almost "see" the families myself. The Good Old Days. Why do these things have to happen? With all this talk about new building being so necessary and no affordable housing, it makes one wonder just what the developers base those statements on.

Thanks to everyone for the pics. They are so great. Anyone have any pics of Milford? Residential areas would be nice too.
