Well, I will temporarily stay with parents for a few weeks in Granby, until I find an apartment within commuting distance. The first few weeks will suck big time, having to commute from Granby to Middletown. Ugh. Not a fun way to start a new job.

Why not get a local to work hotel and avoid a 70 plus mile roundtrip?

It's a pretty low stress 40-45 minute trip each way. Is that really worth getting worked up over? Entitlement strikes again.

It's not going to be fun commuting on I-91 through downtown Hartford. But I am not going to spend $80-100 a night on a hotel. That's crazy.

Buy a helicopter and stop whining.

Here's a better idea, maybe you can complain so much they just move the whole company to granby so you'll have a 5 minute commute. Plus, they can build a sweet cafeteria, covered parking and all the nice landscaping you can ask for!

It's a 45 minute drive, suck it up. My commutes over and hour and a half through 91. It's called work.

...or have your mommy drive you.

Then relax and enjoy the commute for a month or so. Should be able to do it in 100-120 minutes daily. Still a reasonable length day.

Do make sure to arrive early, as you need to make a good impression this time, from the start. If you have extra time, you could stop at a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, whatever.

But look....as much as I would have preferred for a better offer, I just had to come to terms with reality. The fact of the matter is that I have been looking for a job for about 4 months now and this is the one and only offer that came my way, and it's located in central CT, which is where I want to optimally be. God knows if another 4 months would have gone by until my next offer. And I only have 7 weeks left of unemployment. The situation would become very dire, and I cannot let that happen and start depleting $3,000 a month of my savings. It's just too much of a risk to take, and I have a feeling it would not play out well.[/b]

Given this was the only offer, not accepting it would have been crazy.

Be happy you are back home and that you have a job. Some fields you can change jobs like you do because there are tons of openings, automotive for example if you have the credentials you can go and work just about anywhere, recruiters will actually try to steal you from the place you're working. I was outside enjoying my lunch one day cause it was a gorgeous day and the recruiter from BMW drove into our Audi/VW/Porsche dealer and wanted to know if I would like to come work for them. People with technical/mechanical skills have jobs for life.

Your field on the other hand doesnt really work that way and as you found out that even with a college degree you had a hard time landing a new position. If you keep doing what you are doing you may damage your career more then help it. In my field of automotive a brake service for example is the same for an Audi as it for a Chevrolet. If you have an electronic park brake you would need a scan tool to push back the actuators on a rear brake job but beyond that the theory is all the same, we do the same thing under a different roof, the skills are transitional and can go from job to job.
