Default Clinton-salt marshes

Clinton has a lot of salt marshes.....

We are currently looking at houses in Clinton and some of them are on roads that border the salt marshes. I was wondering if they attract a lot of mosquitos to the area?

My uncle has a place in Darien that borders a salt marsh and he can't go out and enjoy his lawn in the summertime because the mosquito population is large and active.

Hopefully someone from the area can comment on this...

Thanks

John

Yes, marshes do breed mosquitos. No way around it. Jay

The biggest challenge to coastal Connecticut in the future is rising sea water, and the extension of marshes/wetlands further inland- this problem is attributed to climate change. With warmer temperatures now a real event in Connecticut the possibility of undesirable diseases born from insects increases in these marsh and wetland areas.

Yes there are a lot of mosquito's, no way around it. There are some things you can do (candles, eco friendly traps and what not) that seem to work some so that you can enjoy the outside.

That said, I'm in Clinton and the one thing I love most is the marsh. I wouldn't let mosquito's stop me from purchasing a house on the marsh. The wildlife, sunrises, sunsets, salt water smell (it's going to be strong on the marsh in the summer in Clinton, just so you're aware, I love it, others, not so much) etc. that can be viewed are beautiful and far outway a few pesky bugs in my opinion.

Best of luck!
