Red face Some Info on Northern New Canaan

Hi. I did have another post here and the information was so helpful. My family is considering a move from Long Island to Connecticut. We love Westport and New Canaan although Wilton and Weston are also nice. We like the idea of living somewhere with a town like New Canaan or Westport. I think I really fell in love with New Canaan BUT the northern part of New Canaan. I found that the only homes in the price range or should I say the best value were homes in the northern part not too far from the Ridgefield border & not far from Vista NY. It seems to be about 15 minutes to the merrit and my husband is commuting to Stamford; not NYC. It also seems to be about 10 minutes from the center of town. One house was a little more south than another that I saw. Anyway my question is this.....is there anything negative about this part of town??? The schools are New Canaan schools and the neighboring homes are BEAUTIFUL. You do get a little more for your money I guess the more north you go. Anything I should know??? I would honestly rather live a little north but be able to move to New Canaan and have my kids go to their schools which are excellent from what I have heard and read. Just wondering if I am missing something. You can't know how life will be somewhere until you live there I guess. Thanks!!

antoluca - Welcome to Connecticut. New Canaan is a wonderful town. The schools are excellent and the town center is just great. I know of no reason why the northern part of the town is less expensive than the southern other than convenience to the Merritt Parkway. Keep in mind that this is a highly desireable area and people are willing to pay a premium for location. There are a lot of people that would pay extra for that slightly shorter trip to work. I would say that if you like the home and neighborhood and it fits your budget, you should not worry. Good luck, Jay
