Default Sign Language in New Haven County

I'm looking to continue my sign language classes that I started when I was living NY but unfortunately I haven't had any luck in finding a place where I could sign up. Does anyone know of any places that hold sign languages classes?

Northwestern Connecticut State in Winsted offers a program. If that is too far contact the Connecticut Commission on the Deaf in West Hartford to see if they know of courses in your area. Another possible source for information may be Deaf Services at Family Services Woodfield in Bridgeport. They are a non-profit that provides interpereting services. They may know of classes in your area. Hope this helps. Jay

Just a suggestion, contact America School for the Deaf and/or Commission on the Deaf and Hearing Impaired

They should be able to help you with that.

You should also check with the nearby community colleges (Gateway in New Haven and North Haven). I have been told that they regularly offer courses. Also check with Southern Connecticut State University and see if there is something offered. And of course the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford as Brian suggested.

Connecticut has a very active deaf community and there is a strong need for interpreters if you are interested in this as a profession or even a part time job. Jay

Thanks so much for your responses. I'm going to check on those ASAP. I've probably forgotten so many signs that I need to start class soon before I'm back to ASL1.
