I am looking for a good OB/GYN between New Haven and Essex. I live in Essex and work in New Haven, and we are planning on starting a family soon, so I am trying to find a good dr. I have one, but I just heard horror stories about the office, so if I could get some suggestions I would really appreciate it.
Thanks |

I don't know how to PM but I just had a baby this past year and went to a practice in Branford...if you can figure out how to do the PM thing, you can write me and I'll tell you who I had. We had a GREAT experience with them and the practice.

I highly recommend Greater New Haven ObGyn !!! they have a web site, just google them.
I had 2 babies with them (2004 and 2007). they have a number of offices including New Haven, Hamden and Madison. they have doctors and also professional midwives who are amazing. they are a bigger practice which some people don't love - but i took a lot of comfort in the fact they are on the cutting edge of all the latest research and technology and are a major part of the Yale Univ med school. their genetic testing with my 2004 baby was way ahead of the standard (they were doing testing that wasn't even "standard" until 3 years later). when you go into labor you will have whoever is on hospital duty that day - but they have someone ready for you 24/7 when the time comes and they are quick to return your calls. when you are not pregnant, it's a little tougher to get appts with the drs you want and have to schedule your annual appt pretty far in advance. but when you are pregnant you are the TOP priority. i had gestational diabetes with my second and they had me working with one of the best endocrinologists in the country and managed the situation wonderfully. |

We are contemplating a 3rd and will be moving to this area soon. Can anyone tell me what hospitals you use? I am very spoiled right now, I have a hospital around the corner. Do most people travel to New HAven?

Not sure where you will be located in CT, but I had my daughter at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and would definitely recommend them. They were great. I would also recommend the OB/GYN practice that Dr. Tim Machon and Dr. John Monaco belong to - they have offices in Hartford, Rocky Hill, Stafford - they are a really great group... It's been 8.5 years since I was there - I'm in VT now, but if they're in the area, I would highly recommend them. Good Luck! |

If you are in other areas of the state, there are plenty of good options, some of which were metioned above. |
