Comstock Trail lies near the Colchester border, just off Waterhole Road. It would appear to be a quiet country setting. It is about 6 miles to route 2, and about 11 miles to Middletown and route nine north.

Its hard to say if route 2 into Hartford and I 84 west to West Hartford would be the best route-or route 9 north to I 91 North-to route 72 and 9 to West Hartford would.

The route 2 scenario might prove to be the most direct, the bottleneck at Middletown, and various route changes west of the river may prove tedious. The drive from Colchester via route 2 to Hartford and I 84 to Hartford would be just under an hour- weather problems and traffic may extend this time longer.

The schools in East Hampton are good with students performing over the state averages on the Connecticut Mastery and Connecticut Academic Performance tests. Class sizes however are somewhat large (over 20 students per class). Though East Hampton now has a major supermarket, it does lack many of the shopping options other towns have. People there must travel to Middletown or Glastonbury for major shopping items.

While East Hampton is a nice small town, the commute from there to West Hartford could be difficult. It would take approximately 45 minutes without traffic and with traffic I would add on at least 15 to 20 minutes. There are a number of towns with good schools that would have a more reasonable commute than East Hampton. I would suggest checking out Granby, Burlington, Harwinton and New Hartford. Also possible Canton. Hope this helps, Jay

E Hampton schools aren't bad, but aren't amazing by any means. EH is a tough commute to the Hartford area since you either need to drive to Middletown to get to Rt. 9 or drive to Marlborough to get to Rt. 2. If you want to live in the general EH area, you'd be better off commuting from either closer to Rt. 9 (Middletown/Portland) or Rt. 2 (Marlborough/Glastonbury). Of course if you lived near the Portland or Marlborough town lines, it wouldn't be too much of an issue. However, when you are right in the middle of EH, it can be a pain.

Default I loved East Hampton!

I lived in East Hampton and I really loved it! East Hampton may seem like a tough commute if you are looking on a map but it really isn't that bad. You can commute to West Hartford via Route 9 in about 45 minutes. Depending where you are in East Hampton, it is a pretty quick drive to Route 2. If you are living on Comstock Trail then it is a really quick ride to Route 2 (you would get on Route 2 in Colchester). You can then access Hartford in about 20 to 25 minutes (without traffic) or the Norwich area (in about 20 minutes). It took me about 30 minutes to get to the Buckland Mall in Manchester.

It is a pretty small town and doesn't offer much in the way of shopping but Middletown and Glastonbury are close by.

My kids were in the school system, from pre-school through 4th grade. The teachers are above average. Many teachers go above and beyond what is required of them. Center School has the best in both teachers and administrators. The class sizes are large, there is a huge influx of people moving in to East Hampton and they need to build another school. My kids' classrooms usually had between 23 to 25 kids in them.

The parks and rec department offers many wonderful programs for kids. There are a lot of sports and activities to keep them busy throughout the year!

The best thing about East Hampton is the small town community feel. People really do take the time to get to know each other in this town. If you don't know someone personally, I can almost guarantee someone you know does. Each summer the town has "Old Home Days", parade, a town fair, you will see just about everyone you know here. They go all out and it is truly a good time!

Then of course there is Lake Pocatapaug (sp?). It is a huge lake with a small island in the middle. There is a beach complete with swings, picnic tables, grills and a concession stand. There is a boat launch for small engine boats, as well as kayaks and the like. They have movie nights on a small screen here in the summer.

Then there is "The Airline Trail". This trail starts in East Hampton and goes all the way to Lebanon. It is a nice gravel trail cut through the woods, you can walk, jog, ride your bike, push a stroller or walk your dog. You can park at the "Cranberry Bog" in East Hampton or park in Colchester. It is a beautiful walk. In the winter when "the bog" freezes over you will find a nice bon-fire and many ice skaters here.

So, there are some of the highlights of East Hampton. It is a great place to raise a family
