I know that 18 wheelers cannot go under the bridges so I know they are not allowed. I always thought that ALL commercial vehicles we banned. Is this True or not? Thanks in advance for clarifying!

It is not as simple as the signs make it sound.

I see a trailer on the Merritt every so often. I notice not a lot of state police patrol the Merritt as they mostly focus on Interstate 95. The problem with trucks on the parkway is that their GPS tells them too even though there are signs but we know many drivers don't pay attention to them. You can have a full blown neon sign that's 50 feet tall and some people will still miss them.

The drivers that get in trouble are the ones who do not have a commercial vehicle GPS. They have a passenger vehicle GPS or use their cell phones for directions. I did not know there was a difference until a recent article on an 18-wheeler who got on the Merritt in Norwalk and hit the first overpass. Jay

Many of the truckers around these parts are francophone, so the signs don't help much.
