Glastonbury has the WORST traffic cops in this area. (observation over the years, not just tonight).

Just drove through their paving project on New London Turnpike. Sign says one lane closed ahead, near Rt 2 entrance. Cop at that end is not paying attention to traffic (though didn't appear to be on his phone which is typical). So a line of us start to drive through slowly. There are 2 huge dump trucks headed down the road toward us, one on each side of the road. We stop until one moves over. Cannot escape up a side street as they are all blocked off (that's about the only place there is someone actually paying attention).

Now there are pavement rollers headed in our direction. Get around them, see a construction worker and ask them where to go. No cones, no signs, no people, just moving road equipment. He says to stay on the left side of the road.

Little bit further up there is (finally) a cop waving and yelling to move over. Well gee, if someone had been DIRECTING traffic maybe everyone would know where to go? Novel thought, I know.

Called the PD when I got home to ask if they'd be paving still on Sat/Sunday nights as I will be traveling that way the next week and would like to avoid it if possible. He didn't know (how can they not know?). Explained to him what happened and his response is they only have one cop at each end and "they know what they're doing".

Sure they do..... Cannot wait till this is over.

So this really isn't the roads, but trash. Route 8 From Waterbury to Bridgeport both sides has so much trash. I mean it has normal trash like plastic cups, bottles, and paper bags. However, there is a lot of random construction debris 4x4's, hard hats, random scrap metal, metal construction parts, metal pipes, and so forth. Also lots of sand, rocks, and twigs. Lots of broken glass and prices of cars. I mean there is probably nails. I never know why the highway has so much debris on it.
