Read your post and would like to ask a few questions. We are considering moving to meriden with a job transfer. I am trying to find out about Utility cost, and "personal property taxes" (no clue what that is), job availability for my spouse, in other words - the real cost of living in CT. Coming from Arizona, I have no info about living in the East. Thanks for any info you have.

Real property taxes = taxes on
real estate (due 07/01 and 01/01)
Individual personal property taxes = taxes on cars, boats, motorcycles, trailers, etc. (due 07/01*)
Business personal property taxes = taxes on vehicles, carpeting, furniture, computer equipment, phone system, etc.
The good thing about Meriden is its proximity to other areas: New Haven, Hartford, Waterbury in addition to other employment centers (Middletown, Wallingford, Farmington).

Lived in (in order of preference): Middlefield, Fairfield, Stratford and Meriden. I love just about every corner of Connecticut, but am about to move back to Middlefield. Life is good.

I grew up in New Milford and went to college in New Britain. I liked New Milford when I was a kid, but I don't like the direction that town has taken. Way too much development for my taste. I now live in Colorado and love it.

The only town I've lived in CT was Trumbull. Grew up there my whole life, until i moved to FL at 20 yrs old with my mom. I love and miss Trumbull with my whole heart. Very small town which is good, everything is close by and convenient. I'm looking to move back to CT soon... hopefully. Just have to find a job first (i know good luck with that) and then find an apartment.
