Does anyone have information about places in the greater Hartford area that have short term leases, flexible leases, or leases with terms that don't have a big penalty if you break them early? Preference would be for a 2 or 3 bedroom in the west end of Hartford, West Hartford, or Farmington. However, if anyone knows other options nearby (maybe Wethersfield or New Britain) I'd be interested to hear about them.

In terms of background I'm currently in the middle of a multi-state job search that may take my family out of Connecticut. But I work in a specialized area and have not been on the job market for years so I don't know how long we need a place for. We're currently renting in a multi-family home where it would be a huge hassle for the landlord if we renewed and stayed for less than a year. We're probably looking for a bigger management company where people are constantly going in and out so short term tenants aren't a big problem.

Thanks in advance! The one place we've found so far is Clemens Place in the West End, which we're considering (6 month is shortest option).

Since you mentioned Wethersfield, I believe the Village at Wethersfield has short term leases or at least they did under the previous ownership. You will pay a premium for it though. You could also check with Goodwin Gardens in Wethersfield. Given them a call, Jay

I live in the westlake section of Middletown. There are plenty of apartments here. I know that my apartment complex offers 3 month leases. However, the 3 month leases are more expensive then lets say a 12 month lease.

Thanks to both of you! Yes, I think it is pretty much standard that the rent gets higher as the lease gets shorter; unfortunately we don't really have a better option.
