What an odd occurrence. I wonder what would drive an alligator to migrate up there? Poor little thing.

I'm guessing someone's 'pet' that escaped or was dumped, or possibly a zoo escapee.

Yep. Years ago, an alligator was sighted (alive, actually) on the French Broad River in North Carolina, not all that far from the Asheville area.

French Broad River Alligator!

Idiots buy baby alligators for fun. When the alligators grow too big, the idiot disposes of them by setting them free. I wish they could find this particular idiot and punish him for this. Not that people go swimming in the CT River but people do go boating and alligators do climb onto land. And they can RUN->->->FAST.

He probably died because he drank too much GATOR-ade. That was an awful pun.

I fell for it based on having read that North Carolina story. It may be a stuffed animal this time, but don't be surprised if, in the future, some idiot whose pet gator got too large releases it.

Maybe he got fed up with the heat, humidity, and the ever increasing New York attitude in Florida. You got to do what you got to do, but sometimes even decisions done with good intentions end in horror. Poor thing. I hope he enjoyed Connecticut while he could.
