Cool Job in Wilton

Am applying for a job in Wilton and would value folks opinions on towns in a 15 mile radius. Looking for good schools, and affordable housing max $350,000.

Not looking for anything fancy, just safe, enjoyable environment for 7 and 15 yr old to grow up.

Thanks

It is highly unlikely you will find a home of any kind in Wilton in that price range. Lower Fairfield county is very expensive- you might be able to find a small home in the nearby town of Fairfield, located on Long Island sound, which is most pleasant, with many nice amenities, very low crime and great schools. Norwalk is another place to consider- a wee more working class, but with many nice neighborhoods and nearby conveniences, although the schools have some issues.

Trumbull, is also a town worthy of consideration.

I agree with Skytrekker. You will not find a lot of home for $350k in or near Wilton. In addition to Fairfield I would suggest looking to the Danbury area. Bethel, Brookfield and New Fairfield are very nice. Norwalk is a small city and has some urban issues. The elementary scholls are okay, but the middle and high schools have issues. I hope this helps. Jay

Default Living near Wilton

You might want to try Redding also. Danbury might be good in certain areas.
Ridgefield, Wilton, Westport, New Canaan will be unlikely places to find that price. Best to contact a realtor who can help you understand the lay of the land. Be sure you check out the costs before moving for the job. We live in Wilton and have a bakery here.
