Your budget will not go far here. Apartments in that price range will likely be in a less desirable area, very small or not in very good condition. Since you have a school age child I would suggest looking in West Hartford which has much of what you are looking for. Unfortunately it is also expensive so you will likely have to increase your budget.
You might also just look in Windsor itself. It is a nice town but I am not sure it has an Indian grocery or many Indian families. Jay
Rocky Hill has a good number of Indians. There are Indian Grocery stores in West Hartford, Rocky Hill & Wethersfield ( very near Rocky Hill).
But as JayCT said, $ 1,000 is not going to get you much for a rental.
A commute to Windsor from Rocky Hill to Windsor would be difficult since the OPs spouse would have to drive through Hartford.
Another town that has a lot of Indian families and is convenient is Manchester. It would be less expensive than West Hartford but the schools there do not perform as well and an apartment there is still likely higher than $1,000. Jay
ok..pls also suggest the approx rents in Manchester and other places,..range of rents where we can get reasonable prices..where good schools, day care and also indian groceries along with commute to office in windsor...
I think windsor locks has a pretty big Indian community and you may be able to find a 2 bedroom apt within that budget. However, the schools aren't the best.
I think you could find what you're looking for in Manchester, however the schools will be pretty average. I'm curious, did you take advantage of the H1-B visa program to get this job in Windsor?
