The banks may be "too big to fail," but the cable companies are too big to care.
I don't know if they're too big to care - except maybe in Comcast's case - but, if they're set up as local monopolies, they have no incentive to improve their product nor their customer service. My choice for internet is Frontier, small regional carrier MetroCast for double the price or more, or going with spotty satellite internet. If I was able to choose from Cox, Comcast, Frontier and a few others, maybe the product would be better and/or the prices cheaper?

My husband cancelled Frontier after one day as they refused to give him a media card for our tivo. The service guy said Tivo won't work and when my husband told him they were required by law to provide him with a media card, the guy replied they don't have any. Surprisingly, the guy didn't even tell us about their own dvr service.

My parents have to battle over their bills every month and now have a direct number to one rep who takes care of it immediately, but IMO they shouldn't have to go through that effort to remove overcharges from every single bill.

I never thought I could any company more than I hated Comcast, but turns out I was wrong.

Frontier is AWFUL. The actual service itself has finally gotten better after the switch from AT&T, but the internet is still slow and erratic. It's tolerable, though, and probably wouldn't bother me too much, if I never had to deal with customer service.

I have spent hours upon hours on the phone with them for various issues, and it's a horror show. Beyond infuriating, absolutely the WORST I have ever dealt with.

You don't want Frontier unless there's no other choice.

My wife had a direct line to a rep as well to fix the bills. However, that woman left the company and she was not replaced by anybody helpful and we've been unable to get a new "fixer" rep. Last month, we finally received a correct bill for the first time in 2 years... we'll see if they can repeat that.

No word yet if CT is impact with layoffs.

NORWALK, CT — Television, phone and internet company Frontier Communications announced it will layoff about 1,000 workers as part of a restructuring effort following a disappointing fiscal quarter, the company announced.

"The Norwalk-based company, which acquired territories in California, Florida and Texas this year, lost a net of 155,000 residential customers last quarter."

I am going to bet CT will face layoffs. My parents know someone who does line work for Frontier and he used to rake in the overtime. He says he gets zero overtime now because they've lost so many customers.

Yikes! Not sure I want to hear this! We've decided to go with Frontier for internet service only because Comcast's pricing have gone up so.much. We only need internet, no phone, no cable. And it doesn't need to be lightening fast.
