So I don´t seem to run out of questions.... We will move to West Hartford (Bainbridge Rd) middle of april and I´m expecting a baby beginning of june - as some of you know by now I´m from europe, so how does it work? Do I just go to a hospital to give birth of do I first look for an Ob/Gyn? DO they take me as a patient already beeing so far in my pregnancy? I would prefer afemal Ob/Gyn but it is not the most important thing. It´s baby no 4 but still in another country its exciting anyways....
Where should I go? Also I need good daycare for my girls, age 4 and 2,5-any suggestions? |

I would start with your insurance company. Call them first and then explain your situation. If they say you need to find an OB/Gyn soon, I can PM you with a recommendation. I used one who is affiliated with UConn Health Center in Farmington and had offices both in Farmington and Avon. Both locations are convenient to where you will be living in Bainbridge Rd.
We used to take our kids to Wynkin, Blinkin and Nod on Park Road, but that was many years ago, and from what I have heard, things have changed there quite a bit. A lady who used to work there opened her own daycare at Farmington Avenue close to St. Thomas Church, but the name escapes me. There is another one right next to WBN that people seem to prefer. I've been out of the loop on daycare stuff so can't be of too much help in that department. ![]() Best of luck on your move and delivery. Let me know if I can be of further help. |

My wife had three children through the OBGYN clinic at New Britain General Hospital which is now called The Hospital of Central Connecticut.
As I recall, she always had female doctors and was very pleased with her care. Of course when delivery time comes, there may not be time to have a choice of which is going to be available, but she was always satisfied with the staff. New Britain has one of the most diverse populations of any city in the area. There are many Polish residents, some who have limited English, and there are also many doctors and staff at the hospital and in the city's medical offices to accomodate everyone's needs. HCC - Ferdinand Sauer, MD Family BirthPlace I found this extensive CT daycare list, and there are quite a few West Hartford daycare providers listed: http://naccrraware.childcareinfoline...ts/LatoyaT.txt To more easily locate the ones from West Hartford, press down the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard in the lower left corner, and while still holding it down, press on the letter "F". A search window will appear, and if you type "West Hartford" in the window and then click "find next", the West Hartford daycare providers on the list will be highlighted for you to identify. Keep clicking next until the whole document has been thoroughly searched. ![]() |
