I live in CT.
I had a car and sold it yestersday but took out the CT license plates from old car.
And today, I bought a new car and transfered the license plates to this new car.
New car dealer took care of new car registration.
My question is :

1) Do I still need to stop by CT DMV to report this transaction? or I don't need to?
2) Is there any money I can expect to be paid by CT(or DMV) as a any refund?

Thank you

If you bought from a dealer they usually handle the DMV. You need to ask them. You could call DMV but who knows how long that would take. I am not sure why you think you would get a refund. Your registration was not closed, it was transferred. You pay a reduced fee to transfer plates, not a whole new registration. Jay

AFAIK, CT will issue registration refunds if you have 1 year of more remaining on it. You would have to go to the DMV in person though to get this and would also have to turn in the license plate.

Registration transfers are not eligible for refunds since you are still getting the entire 2 years.
