Default Heating in SE Connecticut?
What are the options for house and water heating in SE Connecticut, around the Mystic/New London area? Electric? Oil? Is natural gas (not Propane) available?

Natural Gas and Propane are for now the far cheapest. Oil is about as high as electric for heating- nearing the stratosphere. Natural gas in eastern CT is Yankee Gas- but the lines are only available in the largest communities. Propane is the predominant heating source in smaller and more remote areas.

Natural gas is only available in New London and Pawcatuck.

Don't rule out geothermal. It's proven technology. Construction/retrofitting is comparable to other systems and you could save up to 50% in monthly heating/cooling costs. Furthermore the cost of maintenance is much, much lower. Geothermal isn't just for affluent hippies There are 500,000 square foot warehouses and manufacturing plants utilizing geothermal and realizing substantial cost savings.
