Plan to lower Property Taxes

OUR CITIES

Revitalize*our urban centers and ensure*they are*vibrant hubs where young people can live, work and play.*

Consolidate the Departments*of Public Works and Information Technology of city and the public schools systems, (currently each has their own separate DPW and DoT).

Increase the residential assessment ratio to 70 percent.

Convert*all*state*owned*office*buildings*to*leaseh olds*and*reclassify*those*properties*as*commercial .*Additionally,*assess*property taxes at the city’s mill rate.

Secure an agreement with the largest commercial property owners to pay the same amount of property taxes for five years as in FY 2017 regardless of any mill rate decrease.

Establish a definitive agreement with the owners of the largest tax-exempt properties to pay an amount commensurate with the major commercial property owners.

Privatize trash collection and all other appropriate City services.

Negotiate with the city unions to align their work rules, health insurance, and retiree benefits with those in the private sector.

Secure a definitive agreement with City bond holders to waive all interest payments for the five-year period.

Kind of like how property taxes increased when funding to cities/towns went down.
I believe he is proposing to reinstate the deduction of property taxes on state income taxes. That credit used to total $700 to property owners. It would be a hit on our state revenue and not necessarily impact property taxes. Of course if this tax credit reduces the amount of aid to some communities, local taxes could go up. Jay

Well, that’s exactly what I just said. A lie is a lie. If you think any politician, Lamont included, doesn’t stretch the truth when discussing opposing sides, you’re way too trusting.

Anyway, I can’t believe out of all the people in CT, these two jokes are all the parties can come up with.

Enjoy Lamont, Connecticut. It’s going to be another tough ride.

Unaffiliated candidate Oz Griebel also said the state can’t afford to get rid of the income tax, calling it unrealistic. Griebel said Connecticut needs to first use the Rainy Day fund and it’s critical the state budget gets done on time so towns know what to expect.

"All the last-minute gimmicks that go in,” said Griebel. “The cuts that go into the budget, all those things that don't get a fair hearing, the goal would be to get the budget done well in advance."

Oz Griebiel, an Independent seeking the governor’s office, said on his campaign website that his ticket is for the responsible legalization of marijuana with revenue going toward substance abuse, mental health and education programs.

Send out bilingual flyers if you want to pander to people who refuse to learn the language. Otherwise it's an insult to the hardworking people who speak English and live in the area.

Are you also insulted that banks have multiple languages at the ATM ? Are you going to write Bank of America a strongly worded complaint that these multiple language ATM's are an insult to the hard working people of CT ?

It makes total sense flyers would be sent out in foreign languages. These flyers only have so much space to write their bullet points on.

A person doesn't need to be fluent in english to be a citizen. And a person doesn't need to speak english to pay taxes.

And they don’t have to speak English to vote either. Despite what Americans think, English is NOT the official language of our country. Jay

Actually I am offended. I'm also offended that I have to "Press 1 for English"

There isn't an official language. Used to be a time though, when people came to our country they were eager to embrace our language and culture. Now they just want what they can get for nothing.

Lamont 47 Stefanowski 39 Griebel 11

Bad news for Bob all around. Conventional wisdom would suggest Griebel would be a spoiler and take the most away from the R, but Griebel pulls in 5% of Republicans, 9% of Democrats, and 18% of Independents. Independents (the largest voting bloc) go for Lamont 42% followed by Stefanowski 36%.

Connecticut voters disapprove of Donald Trump 59% to 39%, and disapprove of Governor Malloy 69% to 23%. While this would be good news for the Rs, voters are more likely to support a candidate who shares their view of Trump (65% to 35%) than they are to vote for a candidate who supports their view of Governor Malloy (35% to 64%).

Taxes, Bob's #1 issue, is the most important thing to 26% of voters.
