I am hoping CT does this. Though an Independent might win hoping either Terry Hayes or Alan Caron!

The three many Hispanics groups lean democrat (Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican), but not firmly. Puerto Rico’s representative in the house is a republican. Cubans used to lean more right and don’t anymore. It’s about 50/50 in Florida. They all seem to hate Trump though. Oddly enough many Cubans and Puerto Rican’s in Florida voted for Marco Rubio, Mexicans in Texas voted for the republican governor. It will be interesting to see how they shape future elections.

Democrats have a white working class problem and republicans an asian and Latino problem.

The big issue is the republican base, the candidate has to win the primary and appeal to Hannity watching crazy people to win. Which makes it hard to win the general. it took an unpopular democrat candidate under federal investigation to win 77k in vote across three states and a loss of the popular vote. Political scientists predict this can only happen one more time before states will go blue. Clinton lost Texas by 8, Obama lost by double that. Same with Arizona, Clinton lost by 4, Obama double. Texas will be into play in 2024, that’s bad for republicans. Because states like CA, NY and other’s with large populations are getting bluer.

Not sure why CT republicans can’t get it together. More moderate republicans need to vote In the primary. I am a democrat who always voted in the general, but never in the primary. Now I realize how important it is. I don’t want Bernie Sanders candidates to win.

Hispanics still vote overwhelmingly Democratic overall, at least on the Presidential level anyway. Though not as much as African-Americans.

I'll tell you this much: I'm undecided if I will in fact vote for Stefanowski, but I sure as hell won't be voting for Lamont, if I vote at all. Our choices suck in this state.

I was referring to sub groups of Hispanics. In my anecdotal experience Hispanic groups except Puerto Ricans all lean Republican. Maybe its all a coincidence and I have just happened to meet all the conservative Hispanics in CT.

Cubans seem to be the most hard core. Every Cuban I;ve worked with (which is about a dozen) have been raging Republicans. When Rubio starting getting press coverage his positions where no surprise to me knowing that he is Cuban. I had never heard of him until the Presidential race.

This is also why I find it funny that people automatically assume new Hispanic immigrants (that would have the right to vote) would be Democrats. At best it would be a 50-50 split.

No one that I know of wants to turn America into Cuba so that is non relevant. At best Cuba is a military dictatorship in which its leader Castro accumulated 6+ billion dollars most of which was ill-gotten.
