The state really screwed itself by not revamping its infrastructure before it was too late. One accident and it's the apocalypse. Ridiculous.

Oh give me a break with this callous nonsense.

Umm...How about you just consider yourself lucky that you weren't the one killed or maimed in a serious accident? Someone could easily have ran into you. The road is a parking lot every Friday afternoon without an accident anyway. If it's a fatality/serious accident they also have to do a multiple hour long investigation. It's not just taking a few pics.

I knew something was off in the title. Very near there the Merrit becomes the Wilbur Cross. No wonder I couldn't find any news until I gave Wilbur a try.

Video report included in the link.

4 hours though?

My question is, were the drivers stuck on the closed roadway diverted/turned around to a previous exit or did they literally sit there for 4 hours? If the latter, that's plain incompetence at work.

It always irked me that there were not more designated splits in the divide to allow for traffic to be diverted back or around. That also brings up the necessity of local law enforcement to step up and post some units along the exit ramp intersections to allow for better traffic flow.

Times like this I would love to be in the Jeep and make my own path to an exit or back to an opening to cut over. I would very well turn around be and drive the grassy/rough shoulder back as far as needed.

Being lucky is a given but only because of the idiot who caused it. Slow down, stop texting, stop tailgating. Its a straight road for christ sake. Nobody parallel parking, nobody coming from left or right, just focus in front of you!! It doesnt take a genius to understand how highways and parkways work but it takes an idiot to cause an accident.

Sure its not a "purpose" but the amount of time I am on the road Ive seen toooooo many "idiots" doing unnecessary and risky things and I always pray someone innocent doesn't get involved in his accident.

Its frustrating so many people, familes and pets get hurt with stress being caught hours in traffic because of 1 or 2 peoples fault. Something has to change in how its handled to reduce the amount of time standing still. Too many people, too much volume but we have to adjust and do something to help the situation of build up and waiting.

This morning. 11:15am. Had just happened minutes before. No cops/trucks there yet. Looked like everyone was ok.

Raining and windy parkway had lots of ponding around, not sure if Hydroplaning was the cause.

I always wondered if those wooden blocks would stop a car from going over. Guess they do. (Prius NOT involved, just coming over to get by)

It's good the metal divider was there too otherwise would of went into on coming traffic doing 55mph+.

His car was smoking in front. There was another car up ahead like 1/4 mile on right grass area smashed up too.
