Car property tax in CT is ridiculous. We should get tolls installed within CT. The cashless toll at Tampanzee Bridge was really good experience for me months ago. It never stopped traffic and speed were 60 miles along the bridge.

I would never ever register my car in any of CT's cities... My truck would probably cost me double in Hartford.

Hypothetical? Even if I lived there I wouldn't was my point. Thought I was clear about that in my post, but I guess not.

I am trying to look up the history of how the car tax in CT came to be and I found something quite interesting.

https://www.rga.org/after-raising-ta...-his-own-taxes

“Taxes owed to Hartford on two cars owned by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy are listed in arrears, a subject of some gleeful emails among tax collectors opposed to Malloy’s plan to end the Department of Motor Vehicles’ role as a municipal debt collector, according to the Connecticut Mirror."

Think of CT or the tri-state in general, as the "prison shower" of the United States...Make sure your soap is on a rope. That translates to under the radar income whenever possible. Falsified registration documents at the DMV. Out-of-state purchases on the internet to avoid as much taxes as possible. Basically, if you want to live like the nice peaceful citizen of other states, you will need to become a criminal, like our leaders. It's all about who can out scam who.

If you're moving here from another state, keep your car registered in that state to avoid CT tax. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer or a financial advisor.

You have to be kidding me. Most people won't do what is at best shady things to save a few thousand bucks. That is just nuts. Jay
