I was looking at the crime stats for Danbury vs Ridgefield. Why are the crime stats so different?

41 with 100 being safest:
https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ct/danbury/crime

93 with 100 being safest:
https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ct/ridgefield/crime

What is so different about those areas which the crime would be so much higher in Danbury?

I've not visited either of those areas yet, so I thought I would ask first for people who live near there and are familiar with it.

One is a city, the other is a relatively wealthy, semi-rural and quiet suburb?

Danbury is a city that's generally pretty working class and Ridgefield is a small, wealthy town. I would not expect them to be similar for crime but overall i think Danbury is pretty safe compared to most other CT cities.

Danbury is a city and Ridgefield is a wealthy suburb. But having said that I do believe that Danbury is one of the safest cities in Conneticut.

Compare Danbury to some of the other cities in Connecticut and you will see that it is a very safe city overall. In fact, I think I remember I have seen Danbury on some lists that name the safest cities in the country.

I don't know CT.

So what are the areas to avoid?

The area between West St/Franklin St, and between White St/South St. The rest is generally fine.

Since I didn't imply this in my post I agree with you.

yeah, also 80K population vs 20K pop, no brainer which would have higher crime.
It's also the hippest city in CT.

What makes Danbury hip? I've never been there.
