I'm in the Farmington Valley too, and we got a bunch.

Hmmm, Do I want Deep Cold but no snow. or another snowstorm but not as cold?

Yeah I agree, this turned out to be a dud, just a couple of inches. Not sure how people out east fared yet but I don't think it was as bad as predicted because it was a bit warm.

However for us farther west, I think it was not only the warmth but also simply that the storm did not stick around long enough that killed it.

Originally the storm warning for my areas was for around 7pm last night then moved to 10pm. At 11pm I went outside, no snow just a little light rain (and barely that). At 2am when I went to bed, there was a little slush on the cars but still a light rain/mist. Still too warm for snow. In fact, my neighbors fish pond never froze.

This morning around 8am or so we had some pretty decent snow coming down and I thought they might be right about the totals after all. I think we were under a heavy band. But I think it was too late, the storm was more than half over although I did not realize it at the time. By noon or 1pm (I forget) it was pretty much over.

SO I am no weather expert but it looks to me like the storm was only about 12 hours, in which most of it was too warm for accumulating snow (other then on grass) and if it was not for a decent heavy band around 8am to 10am or so, we would hardly had got any at all.

hmm - I'm in the Farmington Valley and the snow was stopped for a few hours. However, over the last hour, we've been getting continuous snow again. Kind of light where I thought maybe it was wind blowing at first, but it's kept up for a good hour or so now and the roads are slushy now

I guess it's the haves & the have-nots with this storm. Here just NW of Boston...north of 15" and still coming down hard. Temps actually fell from 33 down to 28 during the storm (it's now around 30) so no mixing with rain, although from the sound of it there may be some sleet in there. Quite the doozy!
