United States Drought Monitor > Current Map > State Drought Monitor

Not a ton of precipitation here in central Connecticut this week. We're still good with the water tables, apparently.

GFS just wants to troll us..

Blizzard for New England April 8th which would make sense if that strong Arctic blast comes in.

And then... Coastal snowstorm April 11th. LOL

Don't worry, we're in April now so I'd rather see this within 3 days, not 7-10 days. Just crazy to continue to see on the maps as a possibility..

Look, I'll take a 8 inch+ blizzard a week January to February if March just warms up a bit and April is springtime. None of this late hit junk.

Don't put the jackets away from what I'm seeing. Jet Stream stays south of us which means cold.

Welcome to April..

SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Highlights...

* Seasonable but blustery Sunday
* Low risk of some snow near south coast late Sun night/early Mon
* Wet weather Tue into Wed, but some interior light snow possible at
the onset Tue
* Blustery and colder Thu

Sunday night into Monday...

Another shortwave tracks to the south late Sun night/early Mon with
models indicating a flat wave moving off the mid Atlc coast.
Guidance has trended north with moisture/precip and so will have to
monitor this for possible snow spreading north into SNE. ECMWF is
pretty bullish on this and there are several EPS members that bring
some accumulating snow into SNE. GFS is south but there are a few
GEFS members further north. Odds favor most of the precip remaining
to the south but can`t discount a further north solution given
latest trends. Have introduced chc pops near the south coast late
Sun night and early Mon. High pres gradually builds in from the west
during Mon leading to clearing skies but below normal temps.

Tuesday and Wednesday...

Increasing confidence in unsettled weather during this period
but low confidence in details. Guidance suggesting a period of
overrunning precip Tue and column looks cold enough for some
light snow in the interior before eventually changing to rain.
Timing uncertain. Second frontal wave likely will track to north
and west so all rain likely Tue night into Wed with fropa
during Wed.

Thursday...

Blustery and colder conditions expected behind the cold front, but
dry weather. Temps below normal.

I saw on the news last night that those areas in the 60s on the map eventually got into the mid 70s. Amazing what a contrast so close.....
