JUNE 2018 SUMMARY

A month where humidity wasn't an issue but the last 2 days pushed the Avg dewpoint slightly above average. A month where we were having the coolest June since 2009 until the last 2 days which pushed BDR to slightly above normal. Only 10 days were above normal for the month. A month where we kept getting troughs dipping into the Northeast which didn't allow sustained heat or heat waves. It gave us 40s and 50s at night and brought historic June snows to Newfoundland. End of the month these dips stopped and a Ridge became sustained over us with the core right over us last 2 days of the month and continued into July..

To be fair, there was a lesser "heat spike" (especially at BDL) mid month that also turned it into a near normal month. Two 90 degree + days at the end in and of itself wouldn't completely reverse "the coldest June since 2009", though it of course helped.

Wrong.

June 1 - 28 Avg Temp. Coldest since 2009.

June 1 - 30... Boom.. Warmer than even 2015. 2 DAYS RUINED IT. Just 2 days of well above normal temps.

But ruined what? Taking that logic , then go in and take out the 2 coldest days and do the average that way and see what it is.
The temps are what they ARE ...nothing "ruined" anything.

Huh? It ruined the fact that June 2018 was coldest since 2009. Now when you look back it wont show it. All because of those 2 days. That's a fact

Did you notice that there were 20 days below normal with the max temps in June?

But that was part of the month! I get your point kind of....but those two days represented part of the month of June in 2018.. That's like a Pitcher giving up 4 runs and 8 hits in the ninth after 8 innings without a hit or walk given up. . and saying..but look ..it was a perfect game for 8 innings!

Totally missing the point. Even including those 5 days well above normal in mid month If June 29 & 30 were just NORMAL or even SLIGHTLY ABOVE normal, we would of ended up coldest since 2009.

Those 2 days being so much above normal ruined it. Simple fact because it was still coldest since 2009 on the 28th. Totally sucks when looking back on paper.

My baseball analogy fits perfectly. What good are records if they are not complete to the end. Hey, if it makes you feel better, just say for 28 days last month we were colder than 2009!

If you want me to say I get your point, I get it! The last two days f'ed up the cold er than normal records for the month. I agree!

This is interesting... June 2009 was cool the entire month that's why ended up 5th coldest June on record, no "big" heat to throw off that stat.

Take a look at June 2003. Up until June 24th it was the coldest June since 1982 with an Avg of 63.3°! 3rd Coldest June for the period. But because of those 5 days the entire month ended up at 66.6° and ended up 8th coldest. Just 5 days worth..or 6 ruined it. Most of month was cool.

Take a look at June 1998.. This is all interesting.. It was another cold month overall.

June 1-24: 7th coldest June for the period.
June 1998: 12th coldest.

Those 3 days ruined it. Even using those slightly above normal days mid month it was still Top 10 coldest.. Those 3 days took us out. Really that 1 day in the 90s did and the low of 70s..

Paper Stats Deception is interesting when you look into it.
