Default Where to live? One in Hartford & one in the city.

I just got a job in West Hartford but my spouse will be working in the city. Is it practical at all to live somewhere in the middle? Like the town of fairfield, stamford, bridgeport, etc? Let's say if we live in Fairfield, how long does it take to drive to West Hartford? How long does it take to get to Manhattan by train? The only bright side of the story if that my working hours are flexible and I need to go to work only 3 days a week, and we do not have child. If anyone has similar experience I would be very interested in learning how the life would be if both of you have to commute long distance to work.

Driving from Hartford to Fairfield will take just over an 1 hour on an average day- poor weather, construction or an accident will prolong the commute. Fairfield it seems is your best option.

Fairfield would be good but I would also consider Milford or Stratford. Jay
