The Seymour station is small but parking on the weekend is free. You can take a train into New York from there and feel safe about leaving your car. You can swing by the
nearby police station to get a tag to hang in your window but it isn't absolutely necessary.

Default Parking at Amtrak Station in Bridgeport

I am traveling to NYC from Western MA on a weekday and am planninning to drive to Bridgeport and take Amtrak from there. Not being all that familiar with Bridgeport, I am concerned about parking at the Amtrak station in Bridgeport. Is it possible to make a reservation? I'll be arriving at about 8 AM, will I find it a problem to find parking? Any help will be appreciated.

Why aren't you taking the train from Springfield or Hartford which are both closer to Western Mass....and why take Amtrak from Bridgeport when theres the Metro North New Haven line to Grand Central.

I agree. Or they could drive to New Haven. I agree too that if they are just going into New York the OP should take Metro North. It is cheaper and actually you can't buy an Amtrak ticket to New York from Bridgeport or New Haven. You would have to purchase one for Newark. Jay

Take Metro North. It's Connecticut's commuter railroad into Manhattan. Pick it up in New Haven (Union Station) right down 91, but get there early (by 6am) or you won't find parking. Parking is $12/day (contrary to the $8 charge the NH Parking Authority has on their website). Ride to Grand Central will be 90 minutes on the local train, a little less on the express.

The 5:39 AM is a new train with outlets at each seat, and it's an express. You'll be in midtown Manhattan by 7:15.

Don't waste your money with Amtrak, and the further down the line you go toward NYC, the more commuters you'll find, therefore less parking. If you want your choice of a seat, get on in New Haven.

Parking in New Haven shouldn't be an issue.
