Default Train Station parking

I live in Hamden but I'd like to be able to park my car at a train station to take the train into NYC on the weekend. Is there any parking lots in either New Haven or Fairfield counties where I can park my car on the weekend without needing a town permit?

Thanks for your help!!

You can park in most any train station lot on weekends (there usually is a fee though) as the weekends are considered off-peak. New Haven does have public garages near its train station. Stamford station also has a parking garage that is fairly cheap, especially if you leave the car parked there for 6 hours or more (which is just a flat fee of I think around $8 if you park 6 hours or more)

I also know that parking at the Fairfield train station is free on weekends, usually starting about 5pm on Friday afternoons. There is no free parking at Bridgeport, but there are covered garages for a fee. As a female, though, I would suggest going to Fairfield since the area seems a little safer at night compared to Bridgeport.

Thanks for the replies. So I don't need a parking permit for any of these stations on the weekend?

I have a similar question though I posted it once and got no reply. I want to park in New Haven on a Thursday and leave the car til Sat. Is there parking available and where? I am bringing a group of kids to the city for a field trip. Thanks

There is a garage next to Union Station in New Haven but it fills up fast most mornings so it depends on when you get there. I know people that park there for several days while they are in the city and they have not had any problems. I have parked there overnight with no issues too. If that garage is full, there is a garage across the street where you can park as well. I beleive they allow overnight parking as well there. Sometimes that garage is full too so you then have to go over to the new surface lot on Orange Street or to the Temple Street garage. I hope this helps. Jay

I think New Haven Parking Authority runs all of those garages. I would call them.
