Default Stamford Condo: Cove or Glenbrook

Looking for some input from people that have lived or do live in Stamford. We're looking to buy a condo. Narrowed down to two choices.

1. One is a within walking distance (1/3 of a mile) to the Glenbrook train station

2. The other is in the Horton / Avery/ Dean/ Charles St area of the Cove.

Neither of us take the train (we both work in Stamford) so near the train is nice, but not a necessity.

All aspects of the properties are pretty much equal based soley on location which would you recommend? Taking into account things to do, safety, resale ability and quality of life.

Thanks!

I think overall that the two areas are equally safe and desirable neighborhoods. The area near the Cove is a little quieter. I lived in the Glenbrook area (Linden House condos) years ago and found it very pleasant overall, but a tad noisy as far as traffic and we could hear the train whistle, but it wasn't deafening or anything that bad. At that time my husband needed to be in walking distance to the train station so that was the deal-maker for us.

As far as resale, I think both neighborhoods come out about equal. Glenbrook is obviously a little closer to shopping and restaurants, but you can't beat being close to the water. It's really a toss up and comes down to personal preference.

I don't think you can go wrong with either location as far as investment purposes, so I'd say go with your heart on this one and choose the place that feels more like home. Good luck and enjoy Stamford, it's a great place!

I would pick the Cove location--just due to the proximity to the water, plus the south end will only get better (appreciate) in time. Glenbrook is nice, but I'd put my money on the South End to rise quicker in value. Good luck.
