Hi all,

I am a solo business person in Connecticut with a part-time secretary. I was wondering if I could get small group health insurance here in Connecticut. See the attached link where it appears to say that a small group can include 1 to 50 employees.

https://www.uhc.com/employer/health-plans/connecticut

However other places i have looked seem to say that a small business must have at least two employees in order to get small group health insurance.

Are there any insurance experts out there that knows the answer to this question?

Thanks

I do not have an answer for you, but your best bet is to check this website

https://www.accesshealthct.com/AHCT/LandingPageCTHIX

or call 855-805-4325

Access health CT will should be able to answer your questions.

Most likely you and your secretary would be better off purchasing separate plans via the CT health exchange. The fact you have a small business wont really matter. If you want to have some laughs however call the CBIA and ask their advice or check their website

I've always been under the impression you need at least two people to qualify for business coverage, but as pointed out: call BCBS.

No more 1-person groups in CT. And yes, I am a health insurance broker.
