Okay, I am not sure I agree with this one, but Waze voted Hartford (yes our state Capitol) as the tenth best place to drive in the country. Considering that all five approaches to downtown are clogged with traffic and that I-84 west of downtown is the busiest highway in the state, I am just not sure how this can be possible. And I-95 in Fairfield County is not listed among the 10 worst. Thoughts? Jay

Other cities are busier. If you consider just the city streets, traffic will be much lower than a more bustling city.

I saw that over the weekend and had a chuckle over it.

Relative to other urban places where I drive, Hartford isn’t awful. I drive I-84 from West Hartford to BDL at 6:30am on a lot of Monday mornings. Other than the D-bags cutting the exit ramp to I-91N, it’s pretty painless. You couldn’t possibly do that at 6:30am going to most major airports. You would have to allow for 30 minutes to an hour of traffic jam. There is a rush hour but it’s an hour, not 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening like in a lot of metro areas.

Obviously, they've never driven here.

Here's something funny/frustrating about parking though. The street parking meters in Hartford will not accept dollar bills, but will accept coins, street parking meters in New Haven accept dollar bills, but no coins.

The two cities are only 40 miles apart. Couldn't someone have placed a phone call to see what the other city was doing?

The grass is always browner on the side you're on. I think it speaks to just how bad transit is in the US. We're bad, but many are much worse.

For highway design it's pretty rough - the 91/84 interchange and specifically the 91N to 84W component is miserable - but for overall traffic there is plenty worse out there. I cant stand Boston. I am not ever going to be behind the wheel in PGH again if I can help it and Philly isn't much better. I will take Hartford any day over those.
