So I'm 30,single, and trying to decide between Fairfield and Stamford.

So I did some searching(many many searches!) and so I realize Stamford will probably rank higher in terms nightlife and demographics. That being said, how would Fairfield measure up? That phrase I have in mind is "close enough".

I don't mind if low-key in comparison in terms of nightlife. What I'm trying to avoid is moving to something like Westport which is heavily skewed towards older couples and families.

Assume commuting won't be issue with either option.

Stamford is best choice it is growing city with bars, young professionals 20s and 30s, jobs, the nightlife scene is one of best in state 2nd to New Haven. The city is one train stop away from world class NYC where there bigger network of people. Stamford have more diverse group of people than Fairfield. Fairfield is more surburban town where you have kids want better schools and low crime. I will describe Fairfield as laid back family town and Stamford as young professionals with some night life/restaurants with access to NYC.

Stamford no doubt. Not even close, unless you are willing to drive everywhere.

I agree that Stamford is the better choice. As a compromise, what about Norwalk? Smaller than Stamford but bigger than Fairfield. Might be the better choice. Jay

Single and 30? Stamford > Fairfield.

I would go for South Norwalk over both. Nightlife in Stamford isn’t that great IMO. I think the biggest advantage is proximity to NYC.

Fairfield proper doesn’t offer much for singles and nightlife, but nearby Black Rock has a nice variety. Combined with spots like Captain’s Cove and Brewport, there is plenty to do. Because of the colleges in Fairfield, it’s got a bit more going on than Westport.

Thanks everyone!

So I'm aware that Stamford is probably better in terms of nightlife/bars/restaurants, I understand that. The issue is that I'm weighing some apt options and I'm trying to decide if Fairfield would have a decent amount of people age 24-36. I know Fairfield university is in the area but I'm not sure if that would help.

Agree w/ Stamford over Fairfield..

South Norwalk is cool.... but you have to be careful with areas as it's still trying to reinvent itself. Some sketchy neighborhoods just a block from the nice ones.
