Default one question about tax in West Haven

I read a lot of posts about "high tax" in West Haven, but I really do not know what "tax" is referred to, property tax, sale tax, income tax?
Please someone give me clue.
thanks.

"High taxes" refers to personal and real property taxes. Sales tax and state income tax are the same throughout the state. Property taxes are paid on vehicles; real property taxes are paid on land/house.

Default thanks and one more question

Thanks a lot.
One more question, I heard the real estate tax in Bridgeport is the highest nationwide. Is that true? And where I can find those tax information? Is real estate tax rate=mills rate?
Thanks again. Happy Easter!

I do not know that Bridgeport is the highest in the nation. I believe there are higher. You need to look at homes in your price range and see what the taxes are and then compare them to comparable homes in other towns. Jay

The only variable here would be state income tax. Federal income tax and FICA (6.20% up to the first $102,000 of compensation plus 1.45% with no cap) and would be the same as elsewhere although your deductions would influence the former. There is no county or city income tax unlike New York State.

Connecticut's state income tax is comprised of two brackets: 3 percent or 5 percent.

so basically a person working in CT would be liable for only Federal/FICA/State taxes?

for simple illustration a salary of 100k per annum w/o deductions would attract roughly 6.2k + 1.45k + 5k = 12.65k taxes per annum?

Thanks for your help. cheers

You didn't include federal income taxes.
