Self-explanatory title. I've finally got a position where I can afford a decent standard of living for myself and have with a new role in Stamford. I'm from rural PA so I don't have much knowledge of loft/condo liftstyles for millennials. Small list of friends and I'd like to expand that + dating outcomes. What spots would be best for someone in their late 20's in Stamford looking to expand their social and dating circle?

I know NYC isn't too far and could be a hangout on the weekends, but I don't want to commute far. Plus apartments/condos are cheaper in Stamford than Manhattan for similar amenities.

Harbor Point is where you want to be, if you are looking at Stamford. Lots of apartments with people in 20s-30s and a bunch of restaurants. There's also a grocery store, right there (Fairway.) There is also a trolley to take you to downtown Stamford, where there are more restaurants.

Not sure of your budget, but keep in mind apartments start around 2100-2200 for a one bedroom/studio there.

I would live right downtown and get a feel for the area. I’m not crazy about Harbor Point. It feels like a half realized semi-suburban feeling city, without the vibrancy of downtown.

If your work is near a train you could also live in South Norwalk, which is a great spot.

But might be ok maybe sublet there or get a short term rental if possible. Don't get locked into anything too fast, give yourself a chance to ease into it and figure it out as far where you feel the most comfortable. Lost of good nightlife in Stamford and as you said NYC is only a 40 minute train ride away

I actually think Harbor Point itself has more vibrancy these days than actual downtown, it's where the younger people want to be because of the amenities, restaurants, etc. But it's personal preference. I also think if you are fine with the cost of Stamford (SoNo is not dramatically cheaper), then why give yourself an unnecessary commute?

My husband and I were born and raised in Stamford but now live in Trumbull. We still have lots of family there and we go to Stamford often. Downtown has a great vibe now. There are so many apartment buildings going up right downtown too. I would live downtown in one of the apartment buildings.

IF you're single and looking to mingle best places to meet people are at the super market and library.
Go after work especially on a Friday and you'll meet the people who don't party at happy hours.

Bedford Street and Summer Street in Downtown are the main restaurants/bars/nightclub area of Downtown. Its always alive during the weekends, but during the summer is when it truly blossoms. During the warmer months there are weekly live concerts on Columbus Park which attracts a huge crowd of 20-somethings from around the area. They literally flood the surrounding streets. Several open air events take place in Downtown, with no shortage of beautiful young single ladies attending them.

The second hottest place as far a restaurants/bars/nightclub concentration is concerned is Sono in Norwalk.

New Haven is the next best place, but that's quite a hike.

Looking southward I would say White Plains has a nice nightlife and then, perhaps, NYC which is king.

All of these places are easily accessible from Stamford.

I would definitely put New Haven and possibly Norwalk above Stamford for nightlife, personally. Most of my Millennial friends are meh on Stamford and chose Norwalk. That's not to say Stamford doesn't have a good downtown and lots to offer, I'm just not sure I'd definitively put it on top for CT city vibrancy...
