A little history on this. Samp Mortar Rock is the name of a rock outcropping/cliff on a privately owned lake by the same name that was once a reservoir for drinking water for Fairfield and Bridgeport. The reservoir was replaced by massive reservoirs further north in Easton, Weston, Redding and Trumbull so it and adjacent lands were sold off for development back in the 1950's. The area is now called Lake Hills. Samp Mortar itself was the name the colonists gave to a sticky porridge made by the Native Americans from corn ground in the natural bowls at the top of the cliff. There is a Samp Mortar Drive in Fairfield off Black Rock Turnpike. Jay

Lamentation Dr - Berlin

There's also a Lamentation mountain with a park at the base. Although the mountain is more like a ridge.
