But we don't know if we are glad of it or not ,because as far as i understand it's a small town. Can anybody tell me about this town a little and tell me where we will be able to spend our free time there? And are there a lot of young peole or teenagers there? Thank you beforehand!![]() |

Bloomfield is a suburb of Hartford with roughly 20,000 residents. The southern side of town at the Hartford border is mostly commercial development with your typical housing subdivisions. There is new warehousing and office space going into some areas of the town. The northern part of the town is somewhat rural and you can still see some farmland in that part of town
As far as what to do and how many teenagers there are? Hmm. It is a bedroom community and should have plenty of people your own age. Bloomfield is also ethnically mixed thus permitting you to find a number of different cultures. I don't know exactly what you are looking for as far as recreation is concerned. Can you be more specific about what you'd like to do? I'm formerly from the town of Simsbury which sits immediately west of Bloomfield. When I was your age we used to play football, baseball, basketball and hockey and hike and camp in the forests of the hills of our town. Plenty of swimming spots in Simsbury including Town Forest and Hedgehog. There is another beach right near the downtown area close to the Powder Forest office park though I can't recall the name of it now. Never went there anyway. If you like to fish you can get a license to fish in the areas many streams, rivers and ponds. Bloomfield may have something similar and if not try Simsbury. If you want a Mall the Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester is a short drive down I 291 at the intersection of I 84. |

Bloomfield is a quiet suburb of Hartford. It is a nice town but teenagers may find it a bit boring. In addtion to some of the things mentioned above, nearby is West Hartford which has a wonderful downtown area to walk around. Jay

When I was your age we used to play a game called Ultimate Frisbee. Some of the girls also played along with us. Unfortunately I don't know anyone in Bloomfield otherwise I'd try to hook you up. My nieces are a tad too young for you.
You can head straight down I 91 past Hartford to Middletown and take Route 9 South to I 95. Head East on I 95 to New London. Ocean Beach Park is a small amusement park with a beach. Or if you don't want to travel that far (about an hour from Bloomfield) you can try one of the beaches in some of the coastal towns east of New London. When I lived in Branford I used to use the public beach. I think Old Saybrook has one and I know that Hammonasset in Madison (west on I 95 from the Route 9 exit) and Rocky Neck State Park in Old Lyme have larger public beaches but you'll have to pay to get in. Branford is free and some of the smaller beaches are free. If you have to pay money to get into a place you might as well make it Ocean Beach Park because you will get more than just the beach. I'd avoid the Rhode Island beaches at least at the start because they'll be mobbed with people and traffic. It might be too much for you to handle at the start. If you go to Rhode Island, try to go with some local people that know the Westerly, RI area. |

one more question... Is there any law in this state that forbids to go for a walk outdoors at late time ( at night) if you are a minor yet?

I guess you mean a local ordinance prohibiting people under the age of 18 from either congregating or moving about after a certain hour? There may be a local curfew in some communities but I honestly have not heard of any in Bloomfield or any of the Hartford area towns. Some of the cities in the state might have a curfew but I don't really know. Best to make a phone call to the Town Hall in any place you may be spending time outside after dark.

It will take about an hour to get to the ocean from Hftd.
I would agree bloomfield has very little in the way of entertainment. So you'll have to go elsewhere for your fun |
