I am a single guy in my mid 20s. I have a job offer in Stamford and was wondering where would be the best place to move? NYC is a little too expensive for me so I am looking in CT. Ive had recommendations to live in Stamford....How is the city? Is there a good night life? Are the people that live in Stamford fairly young? I would like to live in a city where I can meet a lot of people my age. What is good?
Thanks, appreciate it! -Matthew |

Stamford would be your best bet. The population has a young flavor to it with many young professionals. The city has a good night life with many different clubs and bars. Compared to Manhattan/NYC it is far less expensive to rent and or buy. |

Welcome to The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company Website Stamford is about 20 miles to the Bronx so if your destination is Western Long Island it is faster to drive through NYC. If you don't have a car you could use the Long Island Railroad out of Manhattan. |

Stamford has a very good single 20s or 30s something scene. There aren't a TON of clubs (really, very few CLUBS)--but there are many bars and restaurant bars that are packed at happy hour with all the corporate single 20 and 30 somethings.
Stamford is a corporate, wealthy, nice city. Great proximity to NYC. You might want to look at South Norwalk (or SoNo as it's locally called). SoNo is like a mini Soho in Norwalk, CT. Full of older brick buildings from 3 to 6 stories high with some lofts, chic shops, boutiques, tons of cool bars and restaurants, and a lot of shopping. It's almost right on the water and about 10 mins further north by train, from Stamford. |

Which one would be more fun? I also want to kind of live in a downtown area.....is Norwalk like Stamford or is it more like a suburb? I want to have the luxery of walking out of my apartment to something like restaurants, clubs, bars, places to meet people.

You can do that in both places, but the crowd and businesses will be different. Stamford is more corporate/yuppy and dressy. SoNo is more hip/chic and artsy.
