Did one of these for Westchester...doing the same thing here.

Since I asked the question yesterday about certain towns in Fairfield, I figure I might as well do a poll while I'm at it. If you are single, working, and don't have a desire or need to live in NYC, where in Fairfield would you live? If you vote "Somewhere Else", where would that be? Thoughts...

For convenience to a Manhattan commute, I voted for Stamford. IF downtown or Harbor Point is too busy for you, you might consider the Glenbrook or Springdale which are more suburban neighborhoods with train stations on the New Canaan line. Jay

Stamford is dynamic fast growing city past decade the city has seen numerous developments. The city is home to number of corporate headquarters such as Indeed, WWE, United Rentals there are four Fortune 500 Companies, nine Fortune 1000 Companies and more. Stamford is largest financial district in NYC metro area outside of NYC city limits. Downtown Stamford has train station, bus station, numerous restaurants, bars. nightlife, UCONN Stamford campus which is growing every year.

There luxury high rise apartments and office buildings in Downtown Stamford. Harbor Point is new growing area south of Downtown Stamford with apartments, bars, restaurants. Stamford have alot of young professionals who work in Stamford, Norwalk and NYC. Metro North New Haven Line and Amtrak stop at Stamford train station there express train for Metro North which is coming from New Haven stops at Stamford, Harlem 125th Street and Grand Central, other one is local train service which make all stops to Grand Central going to Greenwich, Port Chester, and so on. Amtrak train goes to Boston or Washington DC also stop at Penn Station in NYC. Stamford has mall Downtown with Macys and Targets just few blocks from train station.

Norwalk is more laid back city than Stamford it is not as busy but it is growing city. South Norwalk has seen better days it urban area of Norwalk there some trouble spots especially south of South Norwalk train station recent years area been getting clean up still long way to go. There few bars on Washington Street and places to eat. In year from now Norwalk will see it first mall in the area which is increase shopping experience and improve South Norwalk area even more. East Norwalk is more of middle class family oriented area.

Black Rock is one of better areas in Bridgeport it borders the Town of Fairfield to the west. The neighborhood varies social economic area by St Mary by Sea it fill with large homes and bit more wealthier for few blocks when you go west on Fairfield Ave it mostly Multi family homes mostly renters. There few bars on Fairfield Ave in Black Rock you might get bored of the area quickly.

Best bet will be Stamford you always visit Norwalk and Black Rock on weekends.

It has actually steadily improved over the decades. The bad parts are dwindling and they aren't really in the main bustling area anyway.

Yeah but... that's not what people think of when they think South Norwalk. Nor is there any reason for the OP to live/visit there.
