All,

Pretty much what I wrote in the title. We have officially moved to CT for about 4 months now and I have not needed to get home from the city late. From my understanding there is no taxi on stand by in the train stations, so what do you guys do when coming home late? I'm a 15min walk from the train station to home. And honestly, walking in the dark from the train station is kinda creepy.

You guys call Uber/Lyft? Have a local taxi on standby?

Thanks for any input!

Some stations do have taxis or you can call one but I think these days most people use Uber or Lyft. Jay

What station would you be getting off at, define "late," and what day of the week would this be on? I got off at the Stamford station about a month ago after midnight and was able to easily get an Uber.

I'm not sure about availability at other stations though (i.e. Stratford at 2:30am Wed morning). But my hunch is it shouldn't be a problem because most of the station stops are near downtown areas with nightlife/bar activity where patrons are Ubering home after last call.

Late like anytime after 11pm...in Darien Station.

I don't think 11pm in Darien will be an issue. But should you remain concerned on ride share availability:

1. It may be prudent to get off at Stamford and pay the extra cost of Ubering from there. The Stamford station even has taxis waiting.

2. Go to the Darien station tonight at 11pm and hail an Uber to see how long it takes to get one. You can then cancel it (and eat the cancellation cost, of course).

Uber or lyft, or get off at one of the bigger stops that Does have cabs waiting, like Greenwich.

I don't have any issues with Uber late night at Greenwich Stamford or Darien stations. Noroton Heights station seems to give some drivers trouble since it's a smaller stop and some drivers are less familiar with it, especially with all the construction going on around it. I have had a pickup cancelled from there, and have had to direct the driver to my location by phone on more than one occasion as well.
