The amazing thing is Amazon kept the 5k East Coast hub idea under wraps, with the media all over it.

They got almost twice as much in NYC vs NOVA. Far more per job in incentives in NYC also than either NOVA or Nashville, despite median pay being same in all 3. They knew who needed a boost the most, and I applaud them for getting great value for their asset-55,000 tremendous jobs median pay far in excess of any of the regions chosen. Although in fairness, adjusted for COL, NYC and NOVA pays are worth less.

I am delighted corps are treating jobs as assets, and demanding compensation from the locations they bestow them upon.

I think many of top 20 had a shot. I never thought Newark had any shot at all.

Lois Weiss is saying the Amazon site will be directly on the East River on 44th Drive. Pretty cool location, with a great view of Midtown.

Best benefit to Ct may be fewer reverse commuters from Westchester County-which would cut competition at Stamford jobs.

How did you manage to put that in the benefits category? Part of what makes areas attractive to employers is that there is a large catchment of workers and therefore a large talent pool. Fewer reverse commuters doesn’t seem to fall into that and plus reverse commuters are great because that’s a more efficient use of transit infrastructure.

Anyhow, it really needs to be pushed that Metro-North also gets a stop in Long Island City. They’ll supposedly be passing through it anyhow with the Penn Station Access plan, but Metro-North needs to make sure they are at the table now to ensure that the Sunnyside yards LIRR station is accessible to Metro-North trains headed to and from Grand Central. That’s the most direct boom possible for Connecticut on this.

How can this Penn station even happen? The east side access took billions and more than 10 years. just not gonna happen for other similar transit projects except subway

It is a benefit to the Ct native workforce, who has an oversupply of available labor available already.

This depletes the intra-state supply some, long-term.

Oversupply? The current employment rate is near full employment. If anything there is a worker shortage. Jay

I disagree, in Ct's case. We have reasonably low unemployment, but we remain > US unemployment rate. Granted, US unemployment has been extremely low under POTUS Trump.

Our rate is worse than 36 states as of September's report.

Which is also at near full employment levels. Hardly horrible and definitely not an oversupply. Jay
