An hour ago I was driving and I realized I was on the wrong lane because I could not see the line on the road. Too much rain and too much upcoming traffic lights blinds me from seeing anything and that is very scary. I know this is very common in Florida but have yet to see some in Massachusetts highways. Additionally, those new LED street lights make everything look so dark. Ugh


Is there someone that I can complain about with the state or is there a way that they can propose this? I am very concern of my safety and others. That could cause an accident.

That make sense. I had thought that being the reason but was not sure. I also heard there is a glow paint for the roads so maybe they look at that as alternative. Idk

Even glow paint would fade fast. The harsh winter does a number on the roads in the northeast.

The state and many towns use pavement marking paint that glows. Kidyankee is right that it fades and wears out over the winter. Not much you can do about it but repaint it regularly. Jay

I think we need to check into this. I'm the same way on dark roads at night. Driving on the outskirts of Boston it was so dark on rte 128 in some places that you could hardly see where the road was. Guess they can't afford street lights and you're supposed to see by the lights of the other cars. But late at night when there are hardly any other cars, or when it's really dark and rainy, it's hard to see--and dangerous. The lights from my car aren't enough to light up the road well enough.

They make ones for roads that are plowed. Designed to be sunk into the road. Even plow blades can have rubber scrapers for avoiding damage.

I just did a teeny bit of googling and apparently it IS possible to have them. There's a retractable type but sometimes they can get ruined by the plows. But they are used in this country anyway and the broken ones just get replaced. There are also snow plows with rubber edges. They mentioned Colorado and Alaska.

They're used in Canada too with a 20-25% loss every year. But they are cheap enough to replace.

Somebody really needs to research this idea and find out the best product/s and get it out in front of the public. I think most people would want something like this.

So you all understand, Connecticut did test these reflectors but found that they were not durable enough. Between the plow damage and the affects of freeze and thaw on them, by the end of the winter season most were missing or damaged. It was not worth the cost and work to maintain them. Installing and replacing them meant closing down lanes which is very difficult and expensive. Jay
